The Folly of The Façade

When the world was of one language and of one speech a certain group of people became idle, and in that state of idleness meditated on vain things and decided that they were entitled to more than what they had earned. They, at that very moment were operating from a place of lack; a condition that stemmed from their own inabilities to complete all that they had been given to do. They, as a result, fearing the consequences of their failure to follow through on their assignment from above, built a tower to the top of the heavens, to essentially challenge The Most High’s authority to judge them according to their works. They, in their own words, were fearful of being scattered across the face of the earth. And, rather then endeavoring to earn their name rightfully, based on their actions, thought that they would assign themselves a name – all while circumventing the process and The Most High’s ultimate authority, yet wanting the rewards HE promised to give to those that did HIS will.

This folly was a no-win scenario, for in their vanity they thought The Most High to not be sovereign. They imagined in their heart that HE would be unjust. They believed in their minds that he could not see what their desires were. These were step-skippers and thieves, that had no shame in stealing from HE who sustains and provides for all. They imagined him to be as man – that can be fooled by the façade of a thing or a replica of an original. They did not see that the steps ordained from above for one to achieve mastery were prerequisites for true mastery and that an unwillingness to follow the steps kept one away from elevation. They could not understand that their inability to rise in the ranks was because of their own unwillingness to obey. Their fear of being scattered was realized and materialized once they actually internalized that fear and allowed it to drive their actions. HE didn’t intend to scatter them. Their actions set into motion a chain reaction that brought about exactly what they manifested.

Guard your hearts. Be certain that you don’t desire covet what another man has (or claims to have). You know not what he had to do (good or bad) in order to appear before you in the form that has caught your eye. Rather, focus on your own assignment, and be the best at that which you have been blessed with so that you can in time receive better things from above with proper authorization.
