My father would remind me of this proverb every day before he left out for work. It continues to leave a lasting impression on me. What I assume that he was hoping to express was a life lesson - that in life the opportunities (including the challenges) would be endless – but if I despised opportunity or had my attention on that which was not important, my being distracted by meaningless things would actually nullify my capability of seeing what mattered. And if I did it enough I would create a negative self-defeating pattern of expectation of failure. He was essentially planting a seed in my mind that every encounter served as an opportunity for growth and that it was up to me, and no-one else, to determine how I would allow that encounter to manifest for my life. Either it was a loss or an opportunity.
My inability to see the opportunity in any situation, would be as operating like the fool squandering opportunities. Wisdom comes from the Most High and ideally (there are some few prophetic examples), for one to tap into The Father’s wisdom, they would have to possess a heart that desires it – as one does oxygen. A wise man can jump into any arena and secure a blessing from it. A fool will jump into all arenas and secure nothing but more folly from it. A word to the wise. Be grateful. Give thanks for every opportunity. Nothing is a waste of time if your heart’s desire is to do The Father’s will. He’ll pour out to you. But you have to expect the increase.
Peace be to you. Peace be to your house. And peace be unto all that is yours! Shalom Shalom!
